MMSD launches monthly “People. Purpose. Pride.” recognition program to celebrate outstanding staff and students
MADISON, Wis.—At yesterday evening’s regular meeting of the Board of Education, the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) launched a new monthly recognition program celebrating staff and students who exemplify the values at the heart of the district’s work: People, Purpose and Pride.
The three award themes reflect key aspects of MMSD’s mission and vision:
- People: Building Strong Relationships recognizes individuals who foster meaningful relationships through inclusive leadership, trust-building, collaboration and student-centered advocacy.
- Purpose: Advancing Educational Excellence recognizes individuals who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to student learning and achievement while contributing to MMSD’s educational excellence and long-term goals.
- Pride: Championing MMSD’s Future recognizes individuals who positively represent MMSD and contribute to the district’s long-term growth, reputation and success through leadership, ambassadorship and a commitment to excellence.
The inaugural group of honorees includes two staff members recognized for the first monthly theme, People: Building Strong Relationships, along with three students recognized for embodying all three values of People, Purpose and Pride.
This month’s honorees are:
- Chase West, cross-categorical teacher, Lake View Elementary School
- Bridget Disch, senior administrative clerk, Ezekiel Gillespie Middle School
- Lilah Dean, 11th grade student, West High School
- Emilia “Emmy” Schultz, ninth grade student, West High School
- Elijah Williams, 12th grade student, Robert M. La Follette High School
“Every day, people across MMSD make a difference in strengthening our schools,” said Superintendent Joe Gothard. “This program gives us an opportunity to recognize those contributions and celebrate the staff and students whose leadership, commitment and service create a lasting impact in their buildings and communities. Together, they reflect the values that make MMSD a place where everyone can thrive.”
Each recipient honored at yesterday’s meeting received a commemorative certificate and lapel pin. MMSD staff, students and community members can nominate individuals for future People. Purpose. Pride Awards by visiting the district’s website.
