MMSD seeks community members to help shape digital learning roadmap
MADISON, Wis.—The Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) is developing a new Digital Learning Roadmap to help guide how technology supports teaching, learning and student success, and is seeking community members to join a Guiding Coalition that will help shape the work.
As technology continues to influence how students explore, create and learn, MMSD is engaging students, families, staff and community partners in developing a shared vision for digital learning across the district. The goal is to create a roadmap that reflects the priorities, hopes and values of the broader MMSD community.
“We have an opportunity to be intentional about how technology supports learning and prepares our students for a connected and rapidly changing world,” said Dr. TJ McCray, MMSD deputy superintendent. “The voices of our students, families, staff and community partners are essential to this work. We want this roadmap to reflect the experiences and perspectives of the people who make up our school community.”
MMSD is seeking approximately 40 to 50 volunteers to apply to serve on its Digital Learning Roadmap Guiding Coalition. Members will collaborate with district staff and one another to help develop and refine the roadmap and provide feedback throughout the process.
In determining members, MMSD will seek balanced and diverse representation across grade levels (elementary, middle and high school), attendance areas and student needs (including special education, multilingual education and varied home access).
The Guiding Coalition will meet in person from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Holtzman Learning Center (333 Holtzman Road) on the following dates:
- Wednesday, Oct. 14
- Wednesday, Nov. 18
- Wednesday, Dec. 16
All meetings will be held in person. Individuals invited to participate will be notified by Oct. 7, and community members are encouraged to submit an interest form as soon as possible. (Spanish and Hmong versions are also available.)
In addition to joining the Guiding Coalition, community members can learn more about the Digital Learning Roadmap and provide feedback through a public input survey. (Spanish and Hmong versions are also available.) The survey is open to students, families, staff and community members and provides an opportunity for anyone in the MMSD community to contribute to the conversation.
